Spring + Weekend + 70 degrees = hiking at the Wichita Mountains. (Side note: the photo at the top of my blog was taken at the Wichita Mountains in 2007.)
If you've been to the Wichita Mountains you know that this is a pretty common site. There are buffaloes, long horns, elks, prairie dogs, etc. everywhere. It's not uncommon to have to stop in the middle of the road to allow buffalo to cross. It makes me feel like I'm in an episode of National Geographic.
There was a sign at the base of the trail that said, "Rock Climbing and Boulder Jumping can be Dangerous." We did quite a bit of boulder jumping. I have the cuts and bruises to prove it.
Sometimes you just need to get away with the one you love. It was nice to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather. Mountain climbing is something Ryan and I both enjoy and it's great exercise.
I'm sad to report that we didn't make it to Meers Restaurant to have a Meers Cheeseburger. The line was ridiculously long, out the door. We stood in line for a while and decided it just wasn't worth it. We'd been hiking for about 3 hours and we were starving. As we were headed home we found a nice little cafe, Ann's Country Kitchen, just down the road from Meers. It wasn't a Meers Cheeseburger but it was pretty dang good.

Looks like fun, but not necessarily my kid friendly. Maybe when they get older.
