Party on a Raft

So this weekend Ryan and I went to Sam's to get new tires for my Jeep. While they were being installed, we thought we'd walk around Sam's and do a little shopping. Our eyes were quickly drawn to this HUGE six-person inflatable raft that features eight cupholders, two coolers, one boarding platform, five mesh seats and an anchor bag. Inflated size:161.5" x 133.5" x 31". This means it's huge.

So I do what any normal girl does, I call my mom. Afterall, she's the one with the lakehouse and the keeper of all things fun. (i.e. four-wheelers, jet skis, boat, golf cart, etc.) To my surprise, mom had already bought the Caribbean Island! Actually, I wasn't surprised at all.

Felix's Baby Mama (Baby Daddy, too)

I had the privilege to take maternity pics for my good bud Adrianne and her husband, Jason. They are such a fun couple! Jason is rarely serious and had me in stitches the entire time. You'll see an example in the photo below labeled, "Exhibit A".

Adrianne looked stunning and was definitely glowing. I have a confession. She is actually wearing a pair of my jeans in the pics below. I'm not sure if I should be bragging about that. After all, she is nearly 8 months pregnant. That just goes to show how petite she is? Nah, I think I shot myself in the foot on this one.

I should probably mention that the baby boy she is carrying is not named Felix. One of our friends started calling him that back in January and it's just stuck. I'm afraid if they don't pick out a name soon, they may end up calling him Felix. Not a bad name if you ask me.

Yes, she is just that pretty.

Those are Jason's hands. So sweet.

I love the way she is looking at him.

Exhibit: A

Insert funny caption here.

So this is Mr. G. Adrianne and Jason got Mr. G at a local baby store. Mr. G will reside in the baby's room. I love Mr. G and knew we had to take some fun pics with him. I told Adrianne and Jason to pose like the American Gothic painting. Turned out pretty funny.

Why the 80s was the greatest decade...

  1. I was born in the 80s.
  2. Michael Jackson was "normal".
  3. Big hair (bangs)
  4. Saved by the Bell
  5. The music: Joan Jett, Blondie, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Billy Joel, Tiny Turner, Cyndi Lauper and others.
  6. Swatch watches
  7. MTV aired music videos.
  8. Chuck Taylors
  9. Full House
  10. Acid-washed jeans (yes, they are terrible, but totally unique)
Nick from my LOYAL Class recently hosted an 80s party at his house. What you don't know is that Nick works for Ford A/V and owns a DJ company so I knew this was not going to be your ordinary "house party". Several of us girls got dressed up and did our hair before gracing the party with our presence. The night was a blast - full of dancing to many of the fabulous artists mentioned above.

This is the group that met at Kristen's house before heading to the party.
We had so much fun doing our hair and makeup!

A couple of the more "conservative" chics from the 80s.

Another group of fabulous women from the 80s.

Me and Kristen. Her shirt said, "I love Zack Morris".

Oh, Emily. I applaud her commitment to the 80s.
She put egg whites in her hair to get it to stick up like this. I gagged.

Wichita Mountains

Spring + Weekend + 70 degrees = hiking at the Wichita Mountains. (Side note: the photo at the top of my blog was taken at the Wichita Mountains in 2007.)

If you've been to the Wichita Mountains you know that this is a pretty common site. There are buffaloes, long horns, elks, prairie dogs, etc. everywhere. It's not uncommon to have to stop in the middle of the road to allow buffalo to cross. It makes me feel like I'm in an episode of National Geographic.

The view is awesome.

He's cute.

There was a sign at the base of the trail that said, "Rock Climbing and Boulder Jumping can be Dangerous." We did quite a bit of boulder jumping. I have the cuts and bruises to prove it.

I found a stick for Dax and Darbi. They love sticks.

I was proud of this little tree.

Sometimes you just need to get away with the one you love. It was nice to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather. Mountain climbing is something Ryan and I both enjoy and it's great exercise.

I'm sad to report that we didn't make it to Meers Restaurant to have a Meers Cheeseburger. The line was ridiculously long, out the door. We stood in line for a while and decided it just wasn't worth it. We'd been hiking for about 3 hours and we were starving. As we were headed home we found a nice little cafe, Ann's Country Kitchen, just down the road from Meers. It wasn't a Meers Cheeseburger but it was pretty dang good.

millie update

Millie has been adopted! I am happy to report that I am not crying as I write this.

Millie was adopted by a wonderful family on Thursday. Come to find out, I actually know them. Not directly, but I have met them and I am certain our paths will cross again. This has definitely made the process easier.

Milfred was a great little girl and I know she'll have a long, happy life.
